Southern California 2020 Haunted Attractions Guide
All Around SoCal
This… has a been a strange, unprecedented year, to say the least. Ordinarily, by now, the Southern California spooky season would already be underway, with Halloween Time kicking off at the Disneyland Resort and the start of Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights, Knott’s Scary Farm, Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest, Dark Harbor, and more on the way. But that won’t be happening this year. The novel Coronavirus pandemic has made sure of it—just as it’s shut down all sorts of events and attractions that we would normally cover throughout the year.
Despite everyone’s gloom and doom, however, the Halloween season hasn’t been cancelled. Instead, it will be different this year—a lot reduced, with many traditional names missing from the line-up—but still present. While some haunters are sitting 2020 out, others are pivoting and adjusting their haunts. Much of season will fall on the home haunts (and you can find a great collection of those on the SoCal Haunt List), since the vast majority of the commercial haunts won’t be operating. But out of the challenges and restrictions comes ingenuity… new and unique ways to present a haunted experience.
For those who chose to operate a haunt this year, there are complications with running the event safely and healthily for both guests and workers. There are questions about how to manage crowds, maintain social distancing, keep the environment sanitary, but still bring the excitement of the haunt season to guests. There are also concerns over how responsible it is to operate an attraction where people will gather. Ultimately, it will rely on a combination of both good planning, logistics, and execution on the part of each haunt purveyor and the cooperation and consideration of guests who will need to bring their patience, obedience, and mindfulness to whichever attraction they choose to visit.
And so, as we present this year’s SoCal Haunted Attractions Guide to you, we heavily encourage anyone who attends any of these haunts to do so in the spirit of fun, safety, understanding, and maturity. This means:
Follow any and all rules the attraction sets forth.
Always wear protective cloth or filtered face coverings (no, Halloween masks alone don’t count!). Please wear them properly, covering the mouth and nose snugly.
Do not gather in groups. If you must, please try to limit them to your own group.
Limit the length of your stay to as short as possible.
Stay in your car when possible, especially if that is a viable option for waiting.
Refrain from touching decor, props, etc.
Bring hand sanitizer and use it often.
Be patient to all visitors, especially families with small children. Be patient to all staff and talent. Basically, don’t be a jerk who ruins the experience for others.
Halloween is meant to be a fun, safe, twisted but enjoyable time of the year. It’s something whose passion unites people of all backgrounds. And in a year where so much has been truly and admittedly crummy, lets all work together to keep the spirit of the autumn holiday positive and fun.
With that, here is your SoCal haunt line-up this year (and we’ll, of course, update this throughout the season as things change or more announcements are made)!
Los Angeles County Area
Los Angeles Haunted Hayride
- Where: Bonelli Regional Park, San Dimas, CA
- When: Fri. Sep. 25 - Sat. Oct. 31 (select nights)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of the L.A. Haunted Hayride ]
With Universal, Knott’s, Dark Harbor, and Disney officially out for the season (and likely Six Flags too—they just haven’t announced anything), this year’s big name haunt representation rests on the L.A. Haunted Hayride. 13th Floor Entertainment and uber-popular designer Jon Cooke have concocted a “drive up” experience. Not just a drive-thru or a drive-in, this auto-based haunted attraction combines the two into a scenic tour through Midnight Falls, leading to a stop at the old Midnight Falls Drive-In, which yields a cinematic show featuring Monte Volta with live elements mixed in!
This year, the Hayride is relocated to the Bonelli Regional Park, right next to Raging Waters, and will be taking place in the water park’s overflow lot. Guests remain in their vehicles at all times. All tickets must be purchased in advance. A tiered pricing structure governs how close cars park to the front, and each time slot is limited to 80 vehicles at most.
Halloween at Descanso Gardens
- Where: 1418 Descanso Dr, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011

Guests can safely travel through a winding hay maze and explore a pumpkin palace which, includes a house made out of pumpkins, scarecrows, and more photo ops. Kiddos can even wear their costumes to add to the holiday fun! Tickets must be purchased online in advance and are released in weekly blocks.
Zombie Joe’s Underground Theatre presents Tortured Souls Threshold
- Where: 4850 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, CA 91601
- When: Wed. Oct. 21 - Sun. Nov. 1 (Wed. - Sun. nights)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Zombie's Joe's ]
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Zombie Joe’s cannot put on their wildly popular and fan favorite Urban Death: Tour of Terror this year. Instead, they present Tortured Souls Threshold, an exciting, new live, contactless, COVID-safe, outdoor horror experience for private-group admissions of one to two participants at a time. Haunting the doorways and cursed grounds of Zombie Joe's Underground!
All guests must wear a mask properly and will experience this production outside ZJU. There will be no entry inside the building, nor will the actors touch the guests (or vice versa). Admission is only allowed to private group reservations, and guests can only approach the venue during their allotted time.
Force of Nature Productions presents Wee Halloween Play Festival
- Where: Facebook Live
- When: Fri. Oct. 23 & Sat. Oct. 24
FON presents a family-friendly evening of fun and spooky stories... written entirely by kids! Eleven all new, all original short plays written by kids, ages 6-14 years old. Each play runs between 5-8 minutes and feature a number of prompts such as a classic Halloween character (ghost, vampire, mummy), a cliché horror movie line and weird props and settings. Hosted by Edgar Allan Poe. Run time is just over an hour, so it's perfect for a crazy and creepy Halloween diversion, fit for the entire family!
The performance is actually free, but donations are highly welcome in order to help support the theater.
Stranger Things Drive-Into Experience
- Where: Downtown Los Angeles, CA
- When: Wed. Oct. 28 - Sun. Mar. 7 (Wed. - Sun. nights)
Not strictly a Halloween thing, but given Stranger Things’ connection to things spooky and supernatural, we had to include this. Drive into Hawkins and unlock the mysteries of Upside Down! The run currently appears to be open-ended, with the date above being the latest dates tickets appear available as of this writing. The attraction is already booked out through the end of the year, but there are 2021 dates available!
Freeform Halloween Road
- Where: Heritage Square Museum, Los Angeles, CA
- When: Fri. Oct. 2 - Sun. Oct. 4
The past two years, Freeform has curated a neat walk-through featuring plenty of iconic Halloween-associated movies and franchises. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, that won’t be happening this year. Instead, it’s a drive-thru! See The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, and other beloved spooky hits from the safety and convenience of your own vehicle! Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance!
The Bite LA
- Where: 750 Santa Anita Ave, South El Monte, CA 91733
- When: Fri. Oct. 2 - Sun. Nov. 1 (select nights)
There are all sorts of creative endeavors popping out of the woodwork this Halloween season, and The Bite L.A. offers something more unique than most: a combination drive-thru / food crawl / mobile haunt. Guests will make their way around Legg Lake in El Monte, stopping by various stations for gourmet samplings, and take part in a “creature safari” scavenger hunt to look for frightening creatures in the thicket. There’s also a virtual campfire that guests can park around to hear ghost stories when all is said and done. Quite a combination of events, although it must be asked… exactly who takes the bite out of who…?
BCR: A Place to Scare presents Cursed Creek
- Where: 230 Amhearst Dr., Burbank, CA 91504
- When: Fri. Oct. 16 - Sun. Oct. 18, Fri. Oct. 23 - Sun. Oct. 25
BCR: A Place to Grow is a Burbank non-profit serving children and adults with developmental disabilities. Last year, they started a haunt to help fundraise, and this year, they’re continuing it as a drive-thru type in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. This is one of many haunts working to advance great causes—a “scare to care” endeavor.
Rotten Apple 907 presents The Haunted Manor
- Where: 907 N. California St., Burbank, CA 91505
- When: Fri. Oct. 23 - Sun. Oct. 25, Fri. Oct. 30 - Sun. Nov 2
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Rotten Apple 907 ]
Rotten Apple won’t be a walk-through, but the Meyers are still engaging the Halloween spirit by creating a yard display. This year will be a fun tribute to the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland / Walt Disney World and Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris. Veteran visitors of Rotten Apple will know how influenced and connected the team is to Disney, so we can’t wait to see the happy haunts they conjure up this year!
Holiday Fantasies Come to Life
- Where: 1505 N. Valley St., Burbank, California 91505
- When: Fri. Oct. 10 - Fri. Nov. 6 (nightly)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Holiday Fantasies Come to Life ]
It’s arguably the most detailed and spectacular yard display in the area—typically Disney themed or inspired, and wildly incredible to behold, with layers upon layers of detail. Holiday Fantasies Come to Life is a gem in the Burbank community, and though no longer a complete secret, is still a local treasure. We’re excited to see what they’ve got up their sleeves this season!
Opechee Haunt presents Tour
- Where: Glendale, CA 91208
- When: Thu. Oct. 1 - Sat. Nov. 7 (select Thu. - Sat. nights)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Opechee Haunt ]
Last year was supposed to be the final year of Opechee Haunt for the foreseeable future, as Sam Kellman would be heading off the college. But pandemics do different things for people, and with many haunts shuttering this season and some extra time due to the stay-at-home orders (plus not having to worry about actually moving to college due to this semester’s distance learning), Sam started planning how to do a safe but intriguing Halloween experience that wouldn’t require close congregation or person-to-person interaction.
The result is Tour, an immersive, storyline-based, technology-rich mobile scavenger hunt type of an experience that draws upon Sam’s previous Apparition Adventure: Terror Twins endeavor four years ago. It won’t take place at the Kellman residence, but it will take guests around the local Glendale neighborhood. Sam always comes up with new, creative productions each year, and we’re excited to see his play at a completely different type of haunt tailor made to work in a pandemic!
Rosehill Haunt
- Where: 11560 Acama St, Studio City, California 91604
- When: Fri. Oct. 23 - Sun. Oct. 25, Fri. Oct. 30 - Sat. Oct. 31
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Rosehill Haunt ]
The ever-growing Rosehill Haunt yard display continues this year with another iteration. Ben Conway is among the new generation of haunters blending storytelling, theming, and technology into a great production, and though the scope will be tempered by COVID concerns of avoiding attracting mass crowds, the display is still a charming and wonderful little set that’s worth checking out.
Make sure you wear a mask when visiting!
Rotting Hill Cemetery
- Where: 4848 Sancola Ave, North Hollywood, CA 91601
- When: Sat. Oct. 3 - Mon. Nov. 16 (nightly)
Weeping angels and mechanized monstrosities preside over this ghastly yard display. See a giddy graveyard full of home-built fascinations and abominations with enough gallows humor to delight any boy or ghoul.
Macdevitt Manor Haunted House
- Where: 2436 W Macdevitt St., West Covina, CA 91790
- When: Fri. Oct. 9 - Sat. Oct. 31 (Fr. - Sun. nights)
Macdevitt Manor is another walk-through haunt switching to a yard display this year. On weekends, look for a haunted show running every half hour!
The Haunted Rose presents: The Colour Out of Space
- Where: 12116 Groveland Ave., Whittier, CA 90604
- When: Fri. Oct. 30 - Sat. Oct. 31
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of The Haunted Rose ]
The Haunted Rose’s surprise mini-haunt, Carter’s Crypt, was an amazing and practically full-fledge home haunt thrown together almost last minute—but still incredibly detailed and as good as the top-notch home haunts planned a full year. For 2020, they will be providing a haunted show, with socially distanced viewing spots demarcated and periodic performances throughout its two-night run. Creator Ryan Banfield is a supremely talented designer and haunter, and whatever he’s conjured up is sure to be stellar!
Realm of Shadow presents Hamre Manor – 665 Diabolki Way
- Where: 17230 Palo Verde Ave, Bellflower, CA 90706
- When: CANCELLED
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Realm of Shadow ]
UPDATE: Due to L.A. County health guidelines issued after the publication of this article, haunted houses are prohibited this fall. Therefore, Realm of Shadow has been cancelled for the season.
One of my most impressive surprises last year, Realm of the Shadow, is moving forward with a haunt this year but being serious about enforcing strict rules on social distancing, mask wearing, and group sizes. In addition, they’ll be doing temperature checks, liberally doling out hand sanitizer, and having staff escorts of groups through their maze.
This year, Realm of Shadows presents another new theme in the form of a cursed abode. Hamre Manor is a haunted house about a haunted house, but given how immersive and practically cinematic Temple of the Fallen God was last year, this year’s production should be pretty spectacular too!
Orange County Area
Knott's Taste of Fall-O-Ween
- Where: 8039 Beach Blvd., Buena Park, CA 90620
- When: Fri. Sep. 25 - Sun. Nov. 1 (Fri. - Sun.)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Knott's Scary Farm ]
There is no Scary Farm this year, unfortunately. The Coronavirus put an official end to that a couple of months ago when Knott’s announced the cancellation hidden within a general park operations update. But Knott’s is extending its tasting events into a third iteration, building off the Taste of Calico and Taste of Knott’s events. New fall-inspired dishes will be available (some at old Haunt maze-inspired booths), along with the return of the Into the Fog art gallery. Plus, the park will be decked out in spooky decor. It’s the closest thing to Scary Farm we’ll get, but it’s good enough for this year!
Urban Legends Haunt
- Where: 88 Fair Dr, Costa Mesa, CA 92626
- When: Thu. Oct. 1 - Sun. Nov. 1 (Wed. - Sun.)
One of the first haunted attractions announced for this season—and the first SoCal drive-thru haunt announced, Urban Legends takes guests through 3 interactive show zones featuring stories inspired by urban legends. The production takes place at the OC Fairgrounds.
The 17th Door
- Where: 1851 W Orangethorpe Ave, Fullerton, CA 92833
- When: Fri. Oct. 2 - Sat. Oct. 31 (select nights)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of The 17th Door ]
The 17th Door will be open for 2020! The story of Paula will continue, picking up off her release from Perpetuum Penitentiary at the end of last season’s story. With plans to return to Gluttire University, how will Paula’s saga end? This multi-sensory and more “extreme” haunt is a favorite, but it’s definitely not for everyone.
Given the nature of The 17th Door in general, there will be strict COVID-19 guidelines and policies in place. Guests can only purchase tickets online and are only admitted within their own, private groups. Different parties will not be mixed, and walk-on’s will not be permitted. Guests must also properly wear masks at all times, and each member will be provided with and must wear nitrile gloves.
Tanaka Farms Pumpkin Patch
- Where: 5380 3/4 University Dr., Irvine, CA 92612
- When: Sat. Sep. 19 - Sat. Oct. 31 (daily)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Tanaka Farms Pumpkin Patch ]
This year’s Tanaka Farms Pumpkin Patch will be different, just like pretty much everything else around. Mondays through Fridays, guests will be able to take a wagon ride around the 30 acre farm, enjoy the sights, and pick a pumpkin for themselves. Capacity on the wagons has been reduced by 75%-80%. On weekends, guests have the option of doing a drive-thru version of the trail. No Sanrio this year (I think the partnership ended after last season), but at least still an alternate way of enjoying a pumpkin patch!
Tunnel of Terror Haunted Car Wash
- Where: 16061 Beach Blvd.Huntington Beach, CA 92647
- When: Thu. Oct. 15 - Sat. Oct. 31 (Thu. - Sat. nights)
Need some spooks? Got a dirty car? Head over to Russell Fischer’s Car Care Center in Huntington Beach for Orange County’s first haunted car wash! The cost is $20, and guests must stay inside their vehicle at all times. But don’t worry… the creatures lurking beyond the suds will have people dying to keep in their cars!
1870 Haunt Manor
- Where: 1870 N. Cymbal Pl., Anaheim, CA 92807
- When: Thu. Oct. 1 - Sat. Oct. 31 (nightly)
This wonderful second year home haunt is putting on a haunted yard display with all sorts of amazing and spooky details, plus show effects and even some actors on select weekend (and one Wednesday) dates! The story of a murdered bride and her children coming back from the dead for revenge on her insidious husband, 1870 Haunt Manor had a great debut showing last year, and though this year’s scope is tempered due to the novel Coronavirus, their display will still be a devilish delight to see!
Haunted Mansion Haunt
- Where: 28322 Millwood Rd., Lake Forest, CA 92679
- When: Fri. Oct. 23 - Sat. Oct. 31 (nightly)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Haunted Mansion Haunt ]
The Haunted Mansion Haunt returns for another year. This celebration of the venerable Disney attraction will forego it’s walk-through portion this year in favor of purely a yard display with enhanced show elements. This allows guests to drive by and stay in their vehicles while taking in the ambiance!
Scream in the Dark Haunted Halloween Maze
- Where: 22921 Cavanaugh Rd., Lake Forest, CA 92630
- When: Sat. Oct. 31
Traditionally, this chilling home haunt by owners Craig and Lori Leventhal covers 1800 square feet of terror! This year, however because of the Coronavirus pandemic, they’ll be having a yard display open on Halloween night only.
Prism Haunted House
- Where: 24465 Chamalea Dr., Mission Viejo, CA 92691
- When: Sat. Oct. 3 - Sat. Oct. 31 (Fri., Sat., Sun. nights)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Prism Haunted House ]
This fantastic South County haunt about a bio-lab gone wrong is doing an open air show this year in lieu of a walk-through due to Coronavirus concerns, but the different format promises the same high quality, cinematic feel as the regular maze, along with new scenes and effects!
The Gershon Dungeon
- Where: 13861 Gershon Pl., Tustin, CA 92705
- When: Sat. Oct. 24 & Sat. Oct. 31
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of The Gershon Dungeon ]
The venerable medieval-themed haunt will be a yard display this year, showcasing thrills and chills in a manner that’s safe to view from the street!
Pirates Cave Haunt presents Pirates Cave: Origins
- Where: 2548 E Garfield Ave., Orange, CA 92867
- When: Fri. Oct. 23 - Sun. Oct. 25, Fri. Oct. 30 - Sun. Nov. 1
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Pirates Cave Haunt ]
On the coast, a team of miners are dispatched into a remote cavern where they release an undead evil buried for centuries. Will you escape with your soul, or become their next victim?
Due to COVID-19 concerns, the Pirates Cave will not be a walk-through this year. Instead, Dave Larson and his family are producing a yard display show with live actors roaming the grounds. On the plus side, this home haunt is now expanded to two weekends this year!
Hull House
- Where: 6688 San Alano Cir, Buena Park, CA 90620
- When: Thu. Oct. 8 - Sat. Oct. 31 (nightly)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Hull House ]
This great yard display is located very close to Knott’s Scary Farm and even had a bonus brief haunted walk-through last Halloween night. This year, the yard display continues to expand and will include additional theatrical type show effects on Friday and Saturday nights!
Ventura County, The Valley, and North of Los Angeles
Reign of Terror
- Where: 197 N. Moorpark Rd., Thousand Oaks, CA 91360
- When: CANCELLED
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Reign of Terror ]
UPDATE: Due to Ventura County health guidelines issued after the publication of this article, haunted houses are prohibited this fall in Ventura County (similar to Los Angeles County). Therefore, Reign of Terror has been cancelled for this season, and all advance ticket purchases will be fully refunded.
Nights of the Jack
- Where: King Gillette Ranch, 26800 Mulholland Hwy, Calabasas, CA 91302
- When: Thu. Oct. 1 - Sun. Nov. 1 (select nights)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Nights of the Jack ]
This family-friendly experience features thousands of beautiful, hand-carved, illuminated pumpkins at the King Gillette Ranch, out in Calabasas. This year, the producers have switched this to a drive-thru format, but the sights will still be scenic!
Haunt-O-Ween
- Where: 6100 Topanga Canyon Blvd, Woodland Hills, CA 91367
- When: Fri. Oct. 9 - Fri. Oct. 30 (nightly)
Yet another drive-thru haunt, this one has a distinction of marketing itself as an all-ages-friendly attraction that will allow guests to engage in traditional Halloween activities like pumpkin “picking,” trick or treating, and engage Halloween photo ops—all from the safety and comfort of their car! The experience lasts approximately half an hour, and there will be social distancing, sanitizing, and masks required when car windows are rolled down.
Spooky Hollows
- Where: 16418 Gilmore St., Van Nuys, CA 91406
- When: Fri. Oct. 23 - Sun. Oct. 25, Fri. Oct. 30 - Sun. Nov. 1
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Spooky Hollows ]
A past Scare L.A. and Midsummer Scream staple, Spooky Hollows is a great home haunt with some fantastic props, special effects, and fun scares built in. Spooky Hollows is continuing with another yard display this year, but with some show segment surprises and animated / animatronic elements built in to further the lore of Mr. Sticky.
Standard COVID-19 protocol, socially distanced viewing demarcations, and mask requirements will be strictly enforced. Can’t wait to see what they have in store!
Haunted Groundz
- Where: 13243 Mission Tierra Way, Granada Hills, CA 91344
- When: Sat. Oct. 31
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Haunted Groundz ]
One of our finds via the SoCal Haunt List last year, this fantastic yard display and haunted show is entirely self-made by Dmitriy Slobodski, a Ukranian immigrant and supremely talented home haunted who has crafted a intricately programed Halloween performance featuring projections, animatronics, song, and plenty of corny humor. Haunted Groundz is only running Halloween night this year, but it’s a great home haunt that people should check out!
Gothic Hills Cemetery
- Where: 13796 Marchant Ave, Sylmar, CA 91342
- When: Thu. Oct. 1 - Sat. Oct. 31 (nightly)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Gothic Hills Cemetery ]
A fantastic immersive home haunt experience with multiple theatrical elements and cinematic moments, Gothic Hills Cemetery was the last unique haunt that we ended up visiting last year but one of the most impressive! This year, unfortunately, it cannot continue the walkthrough, so it will be a yard display instead. But even the yard display has some pretty terrific theming!
Beware the Dark Realm
- Where: 28621 Sugar Pine Way, Santa Clarita, CA 91390
- When: Fri. Oct. 2 - Sat. Oct. 31 (Fri. & Sat. nights)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Beware the Dark Realm ]
Beware the Dark Realm will be operating a non-scare, one-way walk through that will be more yard display than full on maze. The immersive visual display is a scaled back version of the full haunt, but given how incredible the full haunt is, even a toned down iteration will still be pretty amazing. Proceeds benefit Family Promise of Santa Clarita Valley.
Coffinwood Cemetery
- Where: 27159 Waterford Dr, Santa Clarita, CA 91354
- When: Fri. Oct. 1 - Sat. Oct. 31 (Fri. & Sat. nights)
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Coffinwood Cemetery ]
This long-running Santa Clarita haunt has always been a yard display… just with a walk-through component. Well, this year, it will be more yard display, less walk-through. One group at a time through the outdoor cemetery portion in the front yard, but the mausoleum built inside the garage will be more of a Knott’s-style “peek-in” and excluded from the walk-through portion. But it will still be 100% spooky!
Pumkin Jack’s Haunted House
- Where: 28603 Natalie Lane, Santa Clarita, CA 91390
- When: Fri. Oct. 23 - Sun. Oct. 25, Fri. Oct. 30 - Sun. Nov. 1
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Pumkin Jack’s Haunted House ]
Last year’s final season as a home haunt was a blast with their rendition of Halloween! Pumkin Jack will be a yard display this year, but with their excellent maze theming capabilities, their yard display is sure to be pretty awesome too! Information on dates will be updated when it becomes available.
The Farm Haunt
- Where: 29130 Diablo Pl, Castaic, CA 91384
- When: Sat. Oct. 10 - Sat. Oct. 31 (nightly)

This home haunt features plenty of fantastic decorations and theming, and has big plans for their new location in the future!
Restless Souls Manor
- Where: 38143 52nd St. E., Palmdale, CA 93552
- When: Mon. Oct. 12 - Sat. Oct. 31 (nightly)
Restless Souls Manor brings a beautifully gothic yard display year in lieu of their normal walkthrough, but the craftsmanship is so exquisite that it’s worth the trek up north!.

- Where: 21024 Arminta Street, Canoga Park, CA 91304
- When: Fri. Oct. 23 - Sun. Oct. 25, Fri. Oct. 30 - Sat. Oct. 31

The Haunt at Hellizondo requests that guests socially distance and wait in their cars if it is too crowded on the sidewalk.
Mourning Rose Manor
- Where: 5250 Aurelia St., Simi Valley, California, CA 93063
- When: Thu. Oct. 1 - Sat. Oct. 31 (nightly)
This richly detailed Simi Valley yard haunt is chalk full of elaborate details and sinister ambiance. The theming would rival that of a solid haunted house, if they ever chose to turn it into that. But in the meantime, guests can enjoy the macabre environment crafted in this eerie front yard!
The Inland Empire
Into the Black
- Where: 8443 Haven Ave, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730

After a year off, Into the Black has relocated to the Haven City Market and is unleashing an extended, more horrifying maze about the devil-worshiping Black family! This is the maze that was all about social distancing before it became the pandemic keyword. Guests can only go through one or two at a time, in almost total darkness, making the psychological tension just as stressful as the scares!

The band is back together again! Once upon a time, Adam LeBlanc was a key contributor to Perdition Home, helping Brandon and Trevor with their annually changing home haunt. But several years ago, Adam branched out on his own to start a commercial haunt. Perdition ended up going dark last year, but this year, Brandon and Trevor have migrated over to the pro haunt side and are teaming up to create a new horror over at Frosty’s Forest Pumpkin Patch in Chino.
This year, they’re producing an outdoor corn maze with social distancing that is sure to be gory! Tickets are sold onsite at Frosty’s Forrest. All guests must wear face coverings to enter.

- Where: 3161 Nutmeg Dr., Corona, CA 92882
- When: Thu. Oct. 22 - Sun. Oct. 24, Thu. Oct. 29 - Sat. Oct. 31
One of the few home haunts still pursuing a normal haunted house maze, Corona Haunt brings a haunted nature / mine theme as this year’s theme. Discovered in the early 1900's, Shadow Trail was home to wildlife and beautiful scenery. After a freak accident in 1940 leaving hundreds of gold miners dead, the trail has been since permanently closed. Legend has it, the missing miners who did not make it out, are now permanent residents of shadow trail. Some eager hikers who have luckily made it out from the trail, explain that this is no usual hiking trail. Strange things happen after dark. Things one can't explain.
Guests who want to experience this attraction will need to reserve tickets online in advance, wear a mask, and maintain social distance while in line and in the maze. Talent will also be masked up—and not just costume masks either.

Last year, one of the biggest surprises of the season was a fantastic Pirates of the Caribbean themed yard display at that Parks and Cons found and dubbed the “Pirates of Cindy Court.” Well, the name stuck, and this year, the owners have somehow gone even better and more elaborate, seemingly doubling the props and scenes and expanding the display onto the driveway and into different layers! This is a fantastic yard haunt for Pirates fans, and well worth checking out!

Nestled in the foothills of the West Palm Springs Village, the Killgore family has resided on these hallowed grounds for generations. Some left trying to escape the family curse of a horrific untimely death. Gravely, they always come home, to dwell within the halls and walls of the manor, hoping to never be sent to the depths of hell which loom so close to their souls. Some turned murderous, some became victims. All are ghostly apparitions that remain here with their secrets to haunt the living in their attempt to take the souls of all who enter and send them to hell in their place.
This year, the Killgores are being responsible and employing non-close and socially distanced scare tactics and eliminating curtains and doors in the maze pathway in order to create a contactless experience. Frequent sanitary cleanings will occur, and guests are required to wear masks at all times and maintain 6’ social distance with everyone outside their group.

Escape Rooms
We’re copying our escape room list from last year but omitting venues that are currently closed. Interestingly, escape rooms have emerged as a not-as-high-risk-as-you’d-think attraction, because they can be kept to small groups, and the game rooms are deep cleaned after each game, lowering the chance to germ spread significantly. Of course, this is all assuming the groups are people who already part of each other’s quarantine bubble and are confident in each other’s lack of Coronavirus infection already.

Crossroads Escape Games presents The Hex Room
- Where: 4245 E. La Palma Ave., Anaheim, CA 92807
- When: Year-Round
[ Click here for Westcoaster coverage of Crossroads Escape Games. ]
The Hex Room is not specifically horror themed, but it does carry a horror inspiration in that guests who play are assigned a stereotypical character from a horror movie and then required to work together to escape the machinations of a mad serial killer who has trapped them individually in their own cells. Though the ambiance is more suspenseful than gory, there is an active threat constantly looming, and after escaping their own cells, teams also have to work together to escape the room as a whole. This is an expert level room, but it's a whole lot of fun!

Enter the long abandoned manor during a growing storm in search of a missing business partner. But be careful, not all the spirits that inhabit the mystical antiques in this house are friendly.
Again, we'll update this post throughout the season as we become aware of other haunts or receive more finalized information. But we hope this serves as a nice tool for you to plan your own haunted attraction explorations all across this SoCal land!
