Knott's Berry Farm Announces "Taste of Fall-O-Ween" Event
Knott’s Berry Farm, Buena Park, CA
To the surprise of absolutely no one who has been paying attention (or is friends with an artist participating in this year’s autumn Knott’s art show), Knott’s Berry Farm has unveiled a third iteration of its popular food tasting events that began with the Taste of Calico and is currently ongoing as the Taste of Knott’s. In a couple of weeks, however, starting on Friday, September 25, on the what would have been opening weekend of Knott’s Scary Farm, the park will unveil the Taste of Fall-O-Ween, a gourmet culinary sampling event with spooky vibes!
No, it won’t be the Halloween Haunt, because there won’t be any mazes or entertainment (or rides), but the park will be decked out in Halloween decorations, lending what I imagine will be an eerie touch to Ghost Town, some supernatural surf vibes in the Boardwalk, and sugar skull aesthetics in Fiesta Village. Returning this year despite the absence of Scary Farm will be the Into the Fog art show, featuring dozens of wonderful Haunt tribute pieces by talented artists! For young guests, Camp Snoopy will be home to a trick-or-treat trail, which sounds like a lot of fun for kids. In addition, adult and kid guests will also be allowed to attend in costume! (Just don’t ruin it by dressing up as a haunt monster and scaring other guests—also, cloth or filtered face coverings are still required, so monster masks won’t count!)
If this sounds intriguing to you, head over to Knotts.com to purchase your tasting ticket in advance. Full disclosure, the price has gone up another $5 to $35 for an adult tasting card of (5) items and ($20) for children’s tasting card of (3) items. Knott’s Season Passholders get $5 off.
From the press release:
While the theme park remains closed, Knott's Berry Farm introduces its newest family- friendly outdoor food and retail experience celebrating the Halloween season and the flavors of Fall with Knott's Taste of Fall-O-Ween. Taking place Fridays through Sundays beginning September 25th, Knott’s pays tribute to the year's spookiest season with a Fall food experience unlike any other. The spirit of Halloween comes to life with a cornucopia of Harvest and Halloween décor that will transform the park for the season. Guests of all ages can dress up in their most festive costumes* to experience one-of-a-kind themed food and treats, exclusive event merchandise including specialty items from local crafters, an all-new “Into the Fog” art show with over 45 new art pieces celebrating the scary season, and so much more. Plus included with a junior tasting card, young guests will have an opportunity to take a trip through the fully themed Camp Snoopy Trick-or-Treat Trail presented by Hershey, loaded with multiple treat stations and special spooky decorations. All Knott's Taste of Fall-O-Ween activities will be conducted at a safe and socially distant space for families to enjoy.
Knott's Taste of Fall-O-Ween will take place Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, September 25 - November 1. The only way to experience the limited time Knott's Taste of Fall-O-Ween is with a tasting card purchased in advance at Knotts.com (a tasting card is required for event entry). Event hours will be Fridays and Saturdays from 12pm -9pm and Sundays from 12pm to 8pm. Regular tasting cards (ages 12+) are priced at $35 (plus tax) and will include five food tastings and Junior tasting cards (ages 3-11) are $20 (plus tax) and include three tastings plus a trip through the Camp Snoopy Trick-or-Treat Trail. Tasting cards are date specific and must be purchased online at Knotts.com or through the Knott’s Berry Farm mobile app prior to the date of visit. Knott’s Taste of Fall-O-Ween hotel packages are also available at Knotts.com. In order to manage proper physical distancing of guests, Knott's Taste of Fall-O-Ween tasting cards will be limited each day and may sell out.

There’s more food at the Taste of Fall-O-Ween than either of the previous tasting events, so Knott’s has definitely geared this special run for repeat guests who want to sample more than just the amount of dishes their tasting cards offer. This despite the fact that Knott’s has continued to place some of the more anticipated popular dishes in multiple locations to try to cut down on the lines.
Ultimately, though, this an event promising good eats, spooky treats, and a crisp Halloween vibe—the best replacement for Knott’s Scary Farm that can be managed this year. I’ve been overall impressed with how operations have been run during my previous two visits to these events. There have been some hiccups and areas that could use improvement, but in terms of how to set up a theme park crowd event, Knott’s has instituted a thoughtful and responsible plan.
If you are cautious and want to absolutely avoid any potential Coronavirus exposure should still—by all means—have no qualms and feel no insecurity about staying home. For those who feel comfortable venturing out while taking all of the health agency-recommended precautions and who want a taste of that nostalgic, familiar, ever-comfortable reassurance of Knott’s in a Halloween… consider checking out the Taste of Fall-O-Ween!
