Disneyland Resort Update: The Terse Edition
Disneyland Resort, Anaheim, CA
February is the shortest month, and in honor of that, we are posting our shortest Disneyland Resort update! Well, maybe not shortest ever, but this one is shorter than usual (photo wise at least). So lets get right to it and see what’s been going on at the Disneyland Resort the past month or so!
Mickey and Friends Parking Structure Elevator Complete
‘Member that second elevator tower next to the original that was going up at the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure, just to the side of the escalators down to the parking esplanade? Well, it’s done, which gives this area TWICE THE ELEVATOR! Couple that with additional elevators at the Pixar Pals Parking Structure, and getting up and down in a wheelchair or stroller has gotten a lot easier!
Hollywood Land Refurbishments
Over in Hollywood Land, the big mural at the end of Hollywood Blvd is getting a fresh coat of paint. This has impacted the Marvel meet-and-greet area a bit, but not too majorly. The repainting happens every few years, and the little TLC is nice.
Food & Wine Festival Coming
Booths showed up last week for this year’s Food & Wine Festival coming to California Adventure. The event starts this Friday, February 28, and runs through April 21. Get ready for more fooding!!
Rita’s Margaritas Gets New Color
I could be completely wrong about this, but the Rita’s Margarita’s stand looks like it got repainted, or at least a lot more vibrant. Looks nice?
Mater’s Junkyard TLC
Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree is half down for refurbishment! The nice thing about the attraction is that with two identical halves, they can shut one down and work on it while the other runs, then switch. The downside is that wait times are doubled—30 to 40 minutes instead of 15 to 20.
Avengers Campus Construction
The big project now that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has been completed and is humming along is “Marvel Land”—aka Avengers Campus. The buildings are coming together. The Spiderman show buildiing is most complete, and the rest of the land still has a fair amount of exterior work to go. The land opens late spring/early summer, so the crews still have a lot of work ahead of them!
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad
And this week in your Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad updates… it’s still a bunch of dirt!
Valentine’s on Main Street
The Valentine’s photo op display was up a couple of weeks ago for the holiday, and it was up this past weekend still!
Tomorrowland Things
Ever since Disney unveiled the new, retro-inspired design for the Tomorrowland entrance, the actual work going on has… not seemed to correspond with the concept art. The work walls left of the entrance have been up for a while. But new recently are some new pedestal planters in front of the Star Tours and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters buildings plus a chromatic reflective wall treatment on those buildings’ facades. It looks… nice. I think?
Oh, and in the Tomorrowland Theater (or whatever they’re calling it these days), you can get a sneak pek of the upcoming Pixar film, Onward. Basically, you watch the first five or seven minutes of the movie, plus a little mini-trailer snippet tagged onto the end.
Fantasyland Things
Snow White continues its extended refurbishment. They’ve added more detailed tarps in front of the entire facade as they work on both the outside and inside of the ride. Some of it is visible over Sleeping Beauty Castle—notably the part over Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, which remains open.
King Arthur’s Carrousel is closed for refurbishment too. It’s got a nice bit tarp around it as well. Not sure when it will reopen.
And that’s this quick run through the Resort! Hope you enjoyed it!
